Nik Svarc is Graduate of Leeds College Of Music. His teaching history includes ‘The British Academy of New Music’ in London and ‘Access to Music’ he also currently teaches Guitar at Hull University,and teaches as a Mentor at Leeds College Of Music on the post graduate Pop Music course.
Nik has played at various Jazz and Popular music Festivals. Most notably Birstonas Jazz Festival in Lithuania, Manchester Jazz Festival, Marsdon Jazz Festival, Wigan Jazz Festival, Southport Jazz Festival,Leeds Jazz Festival, The 02 Wireless Festival (Hyde Park) and Gateshead international jazz festival amongst many others.
Nick was recently selected for the Northern Line (Jazz North) touring support scheme with one of his bands (Svarc, Hanley, Longhawn) by a panel including renowned saxophonist Stan Sultzman. He also runs a Power Trio (SvarcTrio) with bass player Garry Jackson and drummer Dave Walsh set to release their second album this year.
Nick is a member of bassist Scott Devine’s Project featuring Louie Palmer (Mike Stern/Janek Gwizdala) and Russell Van Den Berg (Kenny Wheeler/Carla Bley/Phil Woods). He is also the Guitarist in the Russell Van Den Berg Quartet appearing on two Album’s ‘Aquitaine Heights’ and ‘Aphonia’.
Nik has worked with Scott Devine on a Blues Course and has recorded and performed with a variety of Pop bands and solo artists’ such as ‘Rodina’ featuring Joe Tatton (The New Mastersounds) Rhianna Kenny (Faithless/Ian Brown), Jarvis, producer Al Stone (Jamiroquai) and legendary studio engineer and record producer Phil Brown.
Alongside being a working musician and composer Nick also teaches in and around the London and Leeds areas at various educational institutions and is a highly accomplished teacher in some of Leeds most outstanding schools.

Nik is also a member of Dave Hassell’s Hydra.
Recently Nik has performed at the London Bass Guitar Show at London Olympia, working with Scott Devine,Oli Rockberger, and Jack Pollitt, performing on The SBL (Scott’s Bass Lesson’s) Stage, Other performer’s Included Gary Willis, Rich Brown,Bobby Vega,and Henrik Linder.
